In 2023, the Edelman Trust Barometer ranked Spain as one of the most polarised countries in the world. Social polarisation has become so normalised that it has taken root in institutions supposedly designed to integrate, such as the Chamber of Congress. In their drive to intensify this division, some parliamentary interventions are so theatrical that they could be described as performance or action art. This behaviour, which reveals the absence of dialogue and tolerance, fuels social fracture and fosters hatred among citizens.
Fabŭla arises from concern over this social polarisation, inflamed through Congress. Each of its pieces is the image of a deputy captured during their parliamentary work and presented as a mosaic of 6006 frames. Seen from afar, the image reveals the theatricalisation. Seen up close, the frames contextualise the moment in which the image was captured. It is a visual work in continuous development, reflecting on political conduct and its repercussions on society.
